What are mala beads?
Did you know that in each and every moment you are consciously (and unconsciously too!) designing the life that you live?
Each thought, feeling and decision you make leads to an opportunity, a new friendship, an inspiring conversation that unbeknown to you at the time, will evolve into more experiences and connections that make up the wonderful life that you lead.
You’re a creator and you’re a master at it! It’s a powerful realization when you land here, isn’t it?
That’s why we have created for you our very own range of mala beads. These magical beads have been used for centuries as a tool to help people create a life infused with intention.
One heart-felt intention, otherwise known as your Sankalpa in Sanskrit, can re-route the course of your life and here at Blooming Lotus Jewelry, we believe, no dream is too grand. No vision is too lavish.
We want you to feel grounded and supported as you move through your days with full trust in your resolve. They’re magical beads for a reason!
So, what are Mala Beads then?
In Buddhism and Hinduism, Mala beads (the Sanskrit word for garland) are traditionally used as a tool for meditation. There are 108 beads to be exact, an auspicious number for many reasons (wink wink), with one ‘guru’ bead, which can be held in the palm of your hand or worn around your neck as a reminder of your positive intention. They also help you to keep count of your mantras as you communicate with the cosmos.
Not into meditation? No biggie! Don’t let that intimidate you! Our mala beads are for everyone, from yogis to fashionistas, from children to grandparents and the like. There’s no separation here. They can be simply worn as a unique piece of jewelry. You might find though that your days flow with a little more ease, grace… and ahem… intention. We’ll let you be the judge of that!
There’s likely 108 reasons to this question, but we’ll share you with the main ones.
It’s said that…
- There are 108 energy lines that converge to form the heart chakra. That’s a whole lotta love right there!
- The diameter of the sun is 108 times the diameter of the earth.
- There are 54 letters in the Sanskrit alphabet, each with a masculine and feminine quality totaling 108.
- A Japa meditation cycle is the repetition of your mantra, one on each bead. A full cycle is the repetition of your mantra 100 times and the extra 8 beads are just in case you missed a few, which is bound to happen!
Our unique designs
Our exclusive mala beads are made from sandalwood, dark rosewood and rudraksha seeds. They have not been treated with any oils to keep them naturally pure and are ethically sourced in India.
In addition to the 108 beads, we add gemstones for a pop of color as counter/marker beads, as well as accent beads to create a particular meaning for you. We also create wrist malas, chakra malas, tassel malas, moon malas, men’s malas and personalized malas especially for you.
We use only the best quality stones, wood and seeds in our designs, and handcraft each mala with love and intention with each and every knot. From our hands to yours, we know you’ll feel the positive vibrations from these magical beads.
