Meet the Founder
Hey there! Thanks for stopping by and wanting to find out a little bit more about how it all started...
Blooming Lotus Jewelry was founded in 2010 while I was working as a pediatric Occupational Therapist with special needs children. It was during that time that a coworker asked if I'd make her bridal jewelry, knowing I'd dabbled here and there with beading. Little did she know...and little did I know...a seed had been planted. What initially started as wedding jewelry bloomed into something more meaningful inspired by my yoga practice. With a nod to eastern culture, I began incorporating spiritual symbols, meaningful gemstones, hand-stamped mantras and hand-knotted malas. The response I received from my customers and within myself was different and I knew I found my niche in yoga-inspired jewelry. I have loved spreading smiles, love and inspiration all over the world ever since.
In 2012, an amazing opportunity presented itself when I was asked by Wanderlust Festival to make 3,000 wrist malas for a select group of ticket holders. From a simple post on social media, little did I know that I would end up with sitting in their Brooklyn office the following week and planning a massive project! That partnership changed everything and I have been returning to Wanderlust Festival each year as a vendor. I will always be grateful to Wanderlust Festival for believing in me and Blooming Lotus Jewelry.
After ten years as a pediatric Occupational Therapist, I resigned in 2013 to focus entirely on Blooming Lotus Jewelry. I now support those with special needs through Blooming Lotus and donate 5% of ALL sales to Support the Kid for Cancer. In addition to Support the Kid, Blooming Lotus also supports the Autism Society of America and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. During October, a portion of the breast cancer awareness bracelet sales goes to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
When I'm not hand-knotting malas and stamping mantras, I'm a lover of yoga, travel, laughter and green juice. I love traveling to places unlike what I'm used to. My trip to Bali in 2012 was life-changing in so many ways. Experiencing India in 2014 gave me a newfound appreciation and outlook on life. Where to next? I'm manifesting an adventure to Thailand and hoping to journey there soon!
I'm proud to say that Blooming Lotus Jewelry has made it to the cover of several yoga publications including Yoga Journal, OM Yoga & Lifestyle and Yoga Magazine. We've been featured in several magazines including Yoga Journal, Health Magazine, Chalkboard Magazine and Cameron Diaz's The Body Book blog.
